Aaron Benjamin Bender
1983 - 2022
Aaron Benjamin Bender, 38, of Sandy, UT, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, in his home.
Aaron was born November 4, 1983, in Greeley, CO, moving to Garden City, KS, shortly thereafter. After graduating high school, he served from 2002 to 2010 as a combat engineer with the United States Army and Army Reserve, with a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Recreation from Utah Valley University in Orem, UT, in 2010.
Aaron had two passions in life: anything and everything related to the outdoors, most notably mountain biking, and sharing his enjoyment of the outdoors with others. He strived to incorporate his love of the outdoors into every aspect of his life. He mentored at-risk youth with several wilderness recreation programs from 2010 to 2012, served as a forestry aide with the United States Forest Service in 2012, and most recently worked as an associate buyer for a local outdoor retail company.
Aaron is survived by his parents, Richard and Michelle Bender, his sister, Rachel Bender, and his partner and love of his life, Samantha Hansen, as well as his two dogs, Luna and Macaskill.
Family wishes to thank the amazing caretakers at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, especially Dr. Heloisa Soares and her team, for their unyielding care and support.
Memorial services for close family and friends will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 15, 2022 at his home in Sandy, UT. Attendees are asked to share memories during that time related to the time they spent with Aaron throughout his life. Light refreshments will be served.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute at https://www.give.huntsmancancer.org or to the Mountain Trails Foundation at https://mountaintrails.org.
