Margaret Rose Thomas
1936 - 2022
Margaret was born in Berkshire, England to Lester William and Margaret Ellen Lainsbury. She was the eldest of 4 children and always the big sister. In her youth she was a talented athlete in track and field and even trained for the Olympics, preferring to run barefoot!
She moved to the US in 1964 but always clung to her roots of being a Brit.
She took pride in working hard and retired from Abbott Laboratories after more than 20 years.
Margaret was an avid member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and served in the community for nearly 50 years. She was always willing to do things for others and spent a great deal of her time being involved in lots of charitable organizations. As a member, she had the opportunity to attend various conventions and managed to visit nearly all 50 states. She loved to travel and made friends wherever she went. On one of her many adventures, she visited 26 states on one long road trip with her friends, having the time of her life.
She was someone you could always count on to be there when you needed her. She had a very sarcastic and witty sense of humor; her laugh was endearing and contagious. She will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, warm smile, and her famous frog eye salad. She loved coffee, flowers, the color purple, country music, and smoking Pall Mall cigarettes. Margaret was authentic and unapologetically herself. You could always trust that she would tell you what she thought. People were drawn to her and her insightful intuition.
In her final days she was eagerly waiting to be reunited with her husband William (Bill), son Mark Salt, sister Eileen, brother Keith, her parents, as well as lots of dear friends.
