Steven Dale Ainsworth, aged 58, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on August 6, 2023.
Steven was born on December 7, 1964, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Rex and Janice Ainsworth. Along with his siblings Dennis, Scott, and Sherri, he was raised in Sandy, Utah. They grew up on country music, hard work, and a love for the great outdoors. In high school, Steven was a passionate drummer, making the drum line of the Jordan High marching band. He graduated as a Jordan Beetdigger in 1983.
Steven was an accomplished journeyman tile setter for multiple family-owned companies. It was hard to drive past a home or business he had worked on without him pointing it out, proudly saying, “I tiled that place.”
Yet, his proudest accomplishments were those who called him Dadio and Grandpa A. His children, Braden “Buckaroo” and Alyse “Squirt,” along with his grandchildren who he called his fishing buddies, were his world. Not a day passed without him asking about their adventures, living vicariously through them, celebrating their achievements, or just checking in.
He had a deep love for archery hunting, fishing, camping, music, sitting in his Lay-Z-Boy watching his favorite shows on the “boob tube”, “BS-ing” with his kids, and enjoying an ice-cold beer.
Steve loved everyone! Whether friends, family, neighbors, mailman, office staff, bank tellers, gas station attendants, or strangers, he always had a story to share. He consistently found a way to make someone smile or help when they needed most.
He will be remembered for his infectious laughter, amazing stories, hilarious jokes, the best hugs, and his big calloused hands.
He is survived by his children, Braden [Nicole] Ainsworth and Alyse [Kylie] Ainsworth; grandchildren Lucille, Cyrus, and Adalynn; parents Janice and Rex Ainsworth; siblings Dennis [Michelle] Ainsworth, Scott [Kerrie] Ainsworth, Sherri [Mick] Hanks; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished him.
Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents, along with other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on October 21st, 2023, at 2 PM at his brother Dennis’s home. All who loved Steve are invited to join for light refreshments, ice-cold beers, and to share their favorite Steve stories.
