James Kay Barbre

James Kay Barbre returned to his Heavenly Father on Christmas Morning Dec 25th, 2023. He was born in Pocatello Idaho Sept 11th, 1940 to James A. Barbre (d) and Wanda Barbre (d). He was the oldest of nine children and loved his family dearly. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1959 where he played varsity football along with many other sports. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in many callings throughout his life.

Kay Married LaRay Hammond in the Idaho Falls Temple on Dec 18, 1961. They just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Together they raised five children. In 1959 Kay joined the US Navy and served on the USS Salisbury Sound, where he did two tours of duty in the Pacific. Kay attended Weltech College along with the University of Utah studying Math and Civil Engineering. He was a General Contractor who built numerous LDS churches over 18 years in Utah and Idaho. Later he worked at Triax Pacific building Military facilities in Alaska, Hawaii, Tennessee, and California. He also worked for Sizzling Platter for eight years building restaurants. He made many friends along the way and was a natural leader. He was respected for his construction knowledge and ability to manage many employees and complex jobs. People liked working with him, even his children.

Kay loved sports, especially fast pitch softball. He was a member of the 1977 Blackfoot Spuds who participated in the World Tournament held in Arizona. He loved horses and pack trips with friends. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved them all unconditionally.

He is survived by LaRay, Children; Leslie (Wayne) Stucki, Julie (John) Larsen, Paul (Cheryl) Barbre, Ryan (Kerry) Barbre, Brad (Desiree) Barbre. 14 Grandchildren: Mikayla (Jordan), Carly (Ryan), Georgia (Julien) - (Leslie): Nick (Jessica), Chelsea, Colton - (Julie): Valerie (Justin) Savannah - (Paul) Niki (Brayden), Krislynn - (Ryan): Taylor (Makayla) , Alissa,(Chase), Corey (Andrew) - (Brad). 9 Great Grandchildren: Corbyn (Nick), Archer, Jasper, Mosby; (Carly) Nolan, Taggert, Winona (Valerie): Quentin, Paxtin (Taylor)

Preceded in Death by: James and Wanda Barbre (Parents) Duane Barbre (Brother) Samantha Lynn Barbre (Granddaughter).

The family wants to thank everyone who helped with medical care and kindness while he battled Parkinson's disease.

Funeral Services:
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec 30th at the Crescent 16th ward house, 275 East 10600 South Sandy Utah. Funeral Services at 11:00 am. The family will meet friends beginning at 10:00 am in the relief society room.
