Thomas Proctor (Tom) Webster

Thomas Proctor (Tom) Webster, a beloved father, brother, and friend passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah following a long-time battle with respiratory failure. He was 79 years old.

Born April 7, 1944, to parents, Walter and Elaine Webster, in New York City, New York, Tom was one of five sons: Guy, Tony, Peter, and David.

Tom spent his childhood living in Garrison, New York. His main interests were in old cars, photography, and animals. Tom was drawn to nature and loved all creatures and the beauty of creation. He was widely regarded as the local Marlin Perkins or Jack Hanna. From his summer job as a camp counselor, Tom brought home a baby raccoon and named her Moochie. Her favorite spot was perched upon Tom’s shoulder as he went about his daily chores. Soon, Moochie was joined by a possum (Possie), a porcupine (Porky), two Guinea Pigs (Mamie and Ike), several snapping turtles, a mink, and a skunk (Florient). Tom was fortunate to grow up on a beautiful country farm with a barn and outbuildings to support all his creature friends.

Also during his childhood, Tom was in competition with his brother, Peter, to restore classic cars. This love would carry Tom through to his later years, where he would open his very successful business, “Jeep Joint” in Salt Lake City.

Tom was blessed to inherit artistic prowess from his mom, Elaine. While his mom was a successful artist of paintings, Tom excelled in photography. Establishing his skills early in life, he would go on to become Chief Photographer at Brigham Young University and, ultimately, a professional photographer following his college days.

As a father, Tom’s pride and joy was in each of his five sons: Tommie, Todd, Tyler, Ryan, and Garrison who love and are grateful to have a father such as Tom.
