Mary Ellen Howell Evans

Mary Ellen Howell Evans, 48, of South Jordan, UT, passed away on June 5, 2025 after a fiercely fought battle with breast cancer.

Over the course of her life, Mary endured more than most, yet somehow remained indomitable and good-humored. She made friends wherever she went and wore many professional hats, most recently as a residential real estate appraiser. But it was laughter, mischief, hiking, and time with friends that truly defined her. She was diligent, generous to a fault, wildly funny, and utterly without pretense. Her open heart and bawdy humor were irresistible. Even in pain, she found ways to make people laugh. Her greatest wish was to pass this resilience and sense of fun on to her son.

She is preceded in death by five well-loved corgis and her treasured friend, Lawrence. She is survived by her deeply loved son (Christopher), her steadfast partner (Zach), her devoted parents (Randolph and Carol), her heartbroken siblings (R.J., Kris, and Nathan), along with seven niblings who she loved unconditionally. Her family is grateful to the friends and medical professionals who were present for the hardest times.

Services will be held at 6:00 PM July 2, 2025 at the Viridian Event Center in West Jordan, Utah. In lieu of flowers, take a hike, tell a dirty joke, clear your search history, and remember her with a laugh.
