Born July 6, 1962 Fremont CA
Died May 25, 2025 Salt Lake City UT
Becky graduated from Washington High School in Fremont CA in 1981 and BYU in 1995 with a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design. She helped to open the first Home Depot in Salt Lake City and worked there for several years as a manager. She held many jobs that brought her joy through the years, one was at Chicco’s where she loved styling clients in new outfits. She was most recently employed by Verizon as a tech support representative.
She is survived by her brother (Robert), sister in law (Marianne), niece (Sarah), nephew (Robert), two grand nieces (Reagan and Amelia), and one grand nephew (Jackson). She is preceded by her father (Robert) and mother (Dolores).
Becky loved gardening, art projects, cooking, hiking, road trips, playing with her grand nieces and nephew, and socializing, especially if there was food and maybe an adult beverage involved.
She adopted many homeless pets over the years. (dogs, cats and bunnies) Duke, Chloe, and Oreo were her precious loves before she passed. All three have been adopted into loving homes.
In March, the day after a mastectomy and hysterectomy, she was up, moving around and asking to take a road trip. Becky and her brother visited the Topaz Museum and the Japanese internment camp in operation during World War II. She spent about an hour walking around the site as though nothing had happened. In April, she took one last road trip in April to celebrate a family member’s 90th birthday in California.
Over the past 10-12 years, she has battled breast cancer (twice), kidney cancer, uterine cancer and finally, a malignant tumor that had surrounded her carotid artery. She endured many rounds of chemo and radiation treatments. She rarely complained, and was always grateful for her doctors and caretakers. Becky was a fighter to the end, and always optimistic about what the outcome of her cancer treatments would be. Just two days before her passing, she insisted on being transferred from the University of Utah Hospital to the Huntsman Cancer Institute for more treatment.
Becky was a faithful member of Mount Olympus Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City for many years. She loved supporting the youth and children’s ministries, participating regularly in worship, classes, and her Community Group, and helping to facilitate the monthly Contemplative Worship service with her creative ideas. Her incredible joy and friendship will be missed by many in her faith community.
