Deborah Kay Ledbetter Tate 1958-2025

Debbie Kay Ledbetter Tate passed away peacefully in the early morning of August 24, 2025, after a very long battle with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. She was /66 years old, too young to be gone. Debbie was born on September 26, 1958, to Richard and Shirley Ledbetter. She grew up running around the gardens of her family home in West Valley City with her four sisters; Kathy, Gayle, Karen, and Sandy. If they weren’t home, they would spend time camping and fishing in the Uintah Mountains. She met her husband, Clinton, in junior high school, and later reconnected and were married in 1978. They have been married for almost 47 years. Together, they welcomed three children: Richie, Melissa, and Jonathan. Debbie and Clint have eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Debbie and Clint raised their family in Magna, Utah where they spent countless hours at sports games and school activities for all their kids. They rarely missed any sports games, school events, gymnastics meet, cheer comp, or dance recital for their grandchildren. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and loved to watch her kids and grandkids do what they loved. She also loved to go on cruises with Clint. They have been on 31 cruises together. She loved to gamble and enjoyed every chance she got to go to Mesquite, Wendover, or Reno. She continued to enjoy the mountains with her kids and grandkids (not river rafting). In her last few years, she was able to continue to do the things she loved because of the loving and compassionate care of her husband. She worked as a caregiver, a Dietary Manager, and a Medical Records Manager in nursing homes for most of her career. She and Clint were able to take an early retirement and spend some years in Mesquite, Nevada before returning home to be near family again. Debbie was the favorite of all the dogs she encountered. Never without a bag of dog treats in her pocket.

Debbie is survived by the love of her life, Clinton; her children: Richie and Amanda Tate, Melissa and Brett Bond, Jonathan Tate, and her grandchildren and great-grandchild: Devin, Saydee, Kadence, Karlee, Ella, Tate, Conner, Breezly, and Chance; Her sisters: Kathy, Karen, Sandy, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is also survived by her dog, Buddy, and kitty, Frosty.

Debbie is preceded in death by her parents (Richard and Shirley Ledbetter), sister (Gayle), Mother-in-Law (Kay Tate), and Father-in-Law (Richard Tate). She is also preceded in death by her beloved dog, Mahi, and cats, Rusty and Little Bit. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life for Debbie in September. Details will be shared at a later date
