Melody Alise “Mel” Leafty

Melody Alise “Mel” Leafty, 48, of Stansbury Park, Utah, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer and heart failure due to complications from chemotherapy. Born on August 26, 1977, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mel’s life was defined by compassion, strength, and a deep love for those around her.

Mel was the treasured daughter of Stephen and Lynnette Anderson and a beloved sister to Chris and Amber Anderson. She shared a beautiful life with her devoted husband, Jason Leafty, and was the proud mother of her daughter, Ariel Markle. Mel also had a tender heart for her extended family, offering endless love and support, especially to her niece, Rae.

A woman of infinite grace and quiet strength, Mel celebrated 13 years of sobriety and dedicated herself to helping others walk the same path through her active involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous. Her commitment to community continued through Survivor Wellness, where she inspired others with her resilience as a two-time cancer survivor.

Mel had an eye for beauty and a heart for peace. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—creating art through diamonds, collecting crystals, getting lost in the pages of a good book, and meditating to find serenity. Her kindness, patience, humor, and gentleness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Mel’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Red Butte Garden & Arboretum, where friends and loved ones will gather to honor her memory and spirit.

Her legacy of love, courage, and compassion will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her.
