Franklin Paul Hammer

With heavy hearts, we announce that our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Frank was born on March 7, 1945, to Bob and Jessie Hammer in Salt Lake City, Utah. He proudly served in the United States Navy in the submarine service aboard the USS James K. Polk.

Frank was a man of many passions. He loved golf, handball, bowling, birdwatching, fishing, photography, cooking, and trail building in the Draper foothills. Most recently, he had taken up pickleball. He was also a successful business owner, founding and operating Utah Equipment and Engineering.

Above all, Frank cherished time with his grandchildren. He made it a priority to be present at their sporting events and activities, offering unwavering support and pride in everything they accomplished.

Frank and Sue shared a remarkable life together. They met in 1967 when Sue walked into the car dealership where Frank worked to buy her dream car—a 1967 Firebird. A year later, they were married in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and went on to share a lifetime of love, adventure, and companionship. Traveling together was one of their greatest joys, and they made a point to explore whenever they could.

Frank was widely known for his storytelling, quick wit, and the joy he brought to every room. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel included and for turning strangers into friends wherever he went.

Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue Hammer; son, Andy Hammer (Carrie Hammer); daughter, Mindi Monson (John Monson); daughter, Amie Delaney (John Delaney); and daughter, Heidi Knowles (Joe Knowles); and his grandchildren Megan and Ellen Hammer, Sean and Liam Delaney, and Alexis and Sophie Monson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Jessie Hammer, and his beloved dog and sidekick, Cooper.

Frank’s life was defined by love, laughter, and adventure. He was immensely proud of the family he and Sue built together. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
