(June 19, 1953 ~ December 06, 2025)

Noted raconteur and radio personality, Jon Smith, passed into the heavenly realm on December 6, 2025 after valiantly struggling with cancer for the last six years.

Being a true renaissance man, Jon engaged in a number of unique endeavors during the course of his life to which his gregarious personality suited him well. He was a highly skilled auto mechanic and diagnostician and in his earlier life he owned an operated his own auto shop, J & W Volkswerks. After that he was the Service Manager of a large local auto dealership. Having a wonderfully resonant speaking voice, he later found his happier calling as a radio announcer at stations in Wyoming and Salt Lake City. Most notably at Utah’s KLZX where he eventually earned the coveted slot of morning drive time!

After a hiatus from radio he worked as public presenter and sound mixer. As a loyal Judge alumnus, he enjoyed mixing sound for the annual Beggar’s Banquet for his fellow classmates. Other interests included breaking women’s hearts, cycling and photography.

He was preceded in passing by his parents Robert and Renée and Peter his older brother. He is survived by a brother Christopher Smith (Washington, DC) and long time devoted friends Carolyn Dalton (Salt Lake City) and Patti Fritz Everill (Boise, Idaho)

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday January 27th. A reception will follow at a separate address.
