Derek John Wegwart

Derek Wegwart, age 51, of Roseville, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2026.

Derek found his greatest joy in life in his grandchildren, his beloved cat Camo, music, good friends, and a good shot of Rumple Minze. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, strength, and his willingness to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. To his family, he was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle — always ready with support, encouragement, and a good laugh.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Tessmann (Tom); his daughter, Mikaela (Brandon); his bonus son, Carter (Rachael); his cherished grandchildren, Tillie, Della, Leila, and Jaxon; his sister, Christa Wegwart; his niece, Ashley (Brandon); and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Wegwart; his grandparents, Jean and Leroy Tessmann; and his granddaughter, Leila Juaire.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to take your kids — or yourself — to your favorite rock concert or football game in his honor.

A fund will be established to assist with expenses related to settling Derek’s affairs. Any remaining funds will be donated in his honor to a charity that best represents his spirit.

Please wear your favorite band T-shirt or something you think Derek would have loved. Come as you are — that’s how he welcomed and accepted everyone.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2, 2026. The location will be announced once finalized.
