Weston Huff

Weston Huff, our beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 21 at the age of 33, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and bravery.

Weston was born on January 15, 1993, in Corpus Christi, Texas, embraced as the “first” by a large and adoring family. He immediately embraced the world with an open and fearless heart and became his mother, Trina’s, best friend and sidekick as they embarked on a new life together in Northern California. It was here where he spent his early childhood years and gained a loving father, Mick, and two younger siblings, Kalli and Carson. When Weston was 13 years old, the family moved to Utah, where the nearby mountains would become his lifelong playground and sanctuary.

Weston was the kind of person who packed nine lives into one, mastering every challenge he encountered. His athletic success started early; before he was even two years old, he was hitting baseballs without the help of a T-ball stand. This natural athleticism followed him through four years of dominant lacrosse and into his junior year of high school when, on a whim, he picked up a tennis racket for the first time and immediately earned a spot on the Varsity team.

Weston was also an accomplished snowboarder, snow and water skier, wakeboarder, climber, biker, pickleballer, card shark, and gamer. He sought beauty and adventure and truly savored every moment life had to offer.

Weston found professional success as a certified tandem paragliding instructor. Widely respected by his coworkers and students, he experienced immense pride and joy in sharing the sky with others. He loved the "Tender Mercies" of flight—that sacred space where he felt most alive, grounded in the present, and connected to something greater than himself. This bond translated into many lifelong friendships {which is evidenced by so many of you here today.}

Beyond his physical feats, Weston’s empathy and love for others was as expansive as the skies he loved to navigate. He had a rare ability to “see” us all – and he unconditionally loved what he saw, instilling in every person he met a sense of acceptance, individual value, and comfort. His laughter was contagious and his presence was a gift.

Weston loved and was devoted to his family and community, sharing a lifetime of endless memories. He cherished each one of them deeply. Although his time with us was far too short, the impact he made will continue to ripple through the lives he touched, and this love will endure. May we all carry forward his dauntless spirit, kindness, and curiosity, and continuously chase the magic of living.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 2, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., at The Lodge at Traverse Mountain in Lehi, Utah. A formal memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. with light refreshments and an open microphone to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Weston’s love of adventure by contributing to a meaningful outdoor memorial (Venmo: @FlyLikeWeston or GoFundMe: “Fly Like Weston”), or by embracing life through an adventure of your own.
