Robert Clay Evans, Jr.
Robert Clay Evans, Jr., age 77, peacefully passed away on April 15, 2026, at the home of his daughter, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on April 11, 1949, in Downey, California, to Robert Clay Evans, Sr. and Florence (Scollick) Evans. He was the youngest of five children: Alphafred, Joan, Loraine, and Sue. He was deeply loved and adored by his older siblings, who were thrilled to welcome a baby brother into the family. He grew up in Brea, California, and cherished his Southern California upbringing, especially the beaches and time spent with extended family.
At the age of 19, he faithfully served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Switzerland from 1968 to 1970. During this time, he developed a love for people, language, and culture, later becoming fluent in German and Swiss German.
He married and was blessed with four children—Amber Bodon (Mike), Shad Evans (Amy), Kasey Evans (Katie), and Ian Evans (Lauren)—as well as 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who were the center of his life. It meant everything to him that they were able to gather around him before his passing. During his lifetime, he shared his life in marriage with Brenda Alverson, Nancy Evans, Peggy Evans, Kenna Evans, and Elaine Evans, each of whom held a meaningful place in his life. While he often acknowledged that he wasn’t perfect, he never failed to express his love, frequently saying, “You know how much I love you, right?”—a phrase that will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
He had an adventurous spirit and lived life to the fullest. He loved skiing, boating, sailing, jet skiing, windsurfing, surfing, horseback riding, and traveling. He also had a passion for fine cars and racing, always appreciating performance and excitement. One of his favorite traditions was attending the Jazz Festival in Catalina, which he looked forward to each year.
A dedicated entrepreneur and hard worker, he started multiple businesses and lived in various states and parts of the world. As the founder of Robert C. Evans Enterprises, he became known as a motivational speaker and educator, specializing in personality profiling and time management. He inspired many through his teachings, emphasizing discipline, perseverance, and the importance of going the extra mile.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Clay Evans, Sr. and Florence Rachel Scollick Evans; his sister, Lorraine Canning; his brother-in-law, Chuck Canning; and his granddaughters, McKelle Baldwin and Kinley Evans.
His life was marked by resilience, determination, and a desire to make an impact. He taught his family the value of perseverance, the importance of expressing love, and the mindset required to succeed. His legacy lives on through his family, his teachings, and the many lives he influenced.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to all who were by his side, as well as extended family and Mobility Hospice, for their compassionate care and support.
He will be remembered for his bold spirit, his humor, his drive, and most of all, his enduring words to those he loved:
“You know how much I love you.”
