Curtis Wendell Ricord

1952 - 2026
Curtis Wendell Ricord

Our father Curtis Wendell Ricord, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2026. Born on August 17, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Curtis was a son of Elda May Gray Ricord and Edison W. Ricord.

Curtis lived throughout the Salt Lake Valley, including Salt Lake City, Sandy, Draper, and most recently Riverton. A quiet and reserved man, he was known for his loyalty, steadfast nature, and strong work ethic. He believed in doing things the correct way and leaving things better than he found them. Whether working with his hands, providing for his family, or helping others, Curtis approached life with meticulous care and dedication.

A trained carpenter and lover of tools, Curtis took pride in craftsmanship and hard work. A saint, he worked cleaning up after middle school students for decades and retired from Jordan School District. Later, he worked as a bus driver for special needs children.

Curtis served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States Mission from 1972-1974. He served several years in the Navy Reserves and received an honorable discharge in 1994.

On August 9, 1974, he married the love of his life, Loralie Webb Ricord, in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised their five children in the house he built with his own hands surrounded by open fields near his family home. Curtis demonstrated Christ-like service through his decades of tender care for his widowed mother.

Curtis was a lifelong protector and friend to his siblings — both a tease and a dependable source of strength. He loved horses and bowling, oldies and country music, carefully tending his lawn each spring and summer, and in the last few years of his life spending time with his beloved puppy, Maple.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Loralie Webb Ricord; his siblings, Clayton Haines Ricord (Lana), Coleen Ann Eagan, Carla Jean Johnson (Richard), and Coral Leigh Twiggs (Scott); and his five children: Heather Lynn Earl (Jason), Katie Ricord, Jesse Ricord (Kriss), Melissa Lemon (Ryan), and Sharee Morrey (Gordon).

He was a proud grandfather to Konner, Tara, Kylie, Cierra, Dylan, Emery, Abbie, Regen, Dmitri, Scott, Cadence, Madison, Keira, Alexander, Peter, and Brock, and great-grandfather to Carlos, Haven, William, Asher, and Matthew.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, older sister Dela May Ricord, older brother Kent Sherman Ricord, brother-in-law Scott Eagan, and great-granddaughter Anastasia Lily Egbert.

A celebration of life in Curt’s honor will be held the evening of Sunday June 7th. Contact a member of the family for details, or Katie @ 801-310-2518.
