Maria Lettig

Mary (Maria) Lettig, age 86, of West Valley City, Utah, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Mary was born on April 3, 1940, in Ensenada, New Mexico to Leandro Lobato and Ofelia Martinez. She lived a life defined by love, strength, determination, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Mary was a talented beautician who enjoyed helping others look and feel their best. Through the years, she also owned and operated her own cleaning business, taking pride in her work and the relationships she built along the way.

Mary was sweet and loving, never missing an opportunity to give a hug or kiss to those she loved. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke with family and friends. She was also known for being wonderfully hard-headed, a trait that served her well throughout her life. Her strength and resilience were remarkable. Time and again, when doctors and loved ones feared the worst, Mary would surprise everyone by coming back stronger, demonstrating a fighting spirit that inspired all who knew her.

She enjoyed puzzles of all kinds, especially crossword puzzles, and loved keeping her mind active. She was also a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed cheering on her team every season. Whether working through a challenging puzzle, watching a Packers game, or spending time with family, she found joy in life’s simple moments.

Above all, Mary cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose love touched generations. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Mary is survived by her children, Phyllis Bricker (Robert), John Lettig (Tina), Jackie Paul (Ben) Paul Lettig (Camille), her sister Dolores Martinez; her 10 cherished grandchildren; her 11 beloved great-grandchildren; her 2 precious great-great-grandchildren; as well as extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Filbert Lettig; her son, Joseph Lettig; and her parents, Leandro Lobato and Ofelia Martinez.

Though her family mourns her loss, they take comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind the hugs, the laughter, the strength she showed in difficult times, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mary Lettig will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel located at 1304 W. Cinch Way, Bluffdale, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend. A luncheon will follow the services.
