Leslie Lynn Buranek

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie Buranek on June 28, 2026, at the age of 71. Leslie lived a life defined by compassion, grace, and unwavering love for her family and those fortunate enough to know her.

Born on January 24, 1955, in Montreal, Canada, Leslie was the eldest of five children. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Mark, Gordon, Greg, and Lisa, with whom she shared a lifelong bond. For Leslie home was not a place, but a state of mind centered around connection with her family.

As a young girl, Leslie found joy and discipline in ballet, and developed a grace and poise that she carried through her life. She later discovered her true calling in nursing. For Leslie, nursing was never just a profession: it was the expression of her generous heart. She devoted much of her career to caring for residents in nursing homes, treating each person with dignity and genuine compassion. Countless lives were comforted by her tireless dedication.

Leslie shared 48 years of marriage with the love of her life, Dave Buranek. Together they built a home filled with banter, warmth, and unconditional love. They cooked together, hosted parties together, and cultivated a space that relished life and togetherness. Their partnership is a testament to enduring devotion and respect.

She was the best mother to her daughter, Stephanie (Dustin), and her son, Kris (Summer). One of Leslie's favorite parables, The Velveteen Rabbit, reflected the way she loved—completely, selflessly, and without conditions. She instilled in her children the importance of family. No visit or phone call, or for that matter disagreement, ended without Leslie reminding her children, "I love you.”  That love extended to her grandchildren Luke, Brighton, Blake and Xavier. She treasured the time she shared with them. 

Leslie will be remembered for her compassion, her smiling eyes, and her big heart that welcomed everyone. She had a sharp wit and generous sense of humor, and she used her social grace to make people feel seen and loved. Her legacy lives on not only in her family but also in the countless lives she touched through her care.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Leslie's love remains with us.
