In Loving Memory of Justin Scheithauer
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, son, and friend, Justin Scheithauer, who passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at the age of 51, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born to Arthur and Judith Scheithauer on September 20, 1974, in South Dakota, Justin lived a life defined by love, strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he cared about. He was the kind of person who would always lend a helping hand, cook for anyone at all hours, and put his family before himself. His strength, sense of humor, and generous heart left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all else, Justin treasured his family. He was a devoted husband to Teri Scheithauer, with whom he had just celebrated 25 years of marriage, and a proud father to Kaden, Kaden’s wife Anissa, Kiana, and Kiana’s husband Jake. His greatest joy came from spending time with the people he loved, creating memories that will forever be cherished. Whether he was passionately cheering—and sometimes yelling—at the Dallas Cowboys or the San Francisco Giants, or standing behind the smoker preparing incredible meals, Justin found happiness in bringing people together. Whether it was a gathering of his favorite people, sharing silly stories around the fire, or simply being present, he made those around him feel loved, supported, and full of
laughter.
Even in the face of illness, Justin showed incredible courage and resilience. He faced each day with determination and grace, reminding those around him what true strength looked like. His love for his family never wavered, and his legacy will continue to live on through the values he instilled in all who knew him.
Justin was welcomed into eternal peace by many beloved family members who went before him. While we take comfort in knowing there was a joyful reunion, he leaves behind countless loved ones who will carry his memory forward. He is survived by his devoted wife, children, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends whose lives were forever changed by his love, generosity, and unwavering presence.
Our family would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible team at Huntsman Cancer Institute and the compassionate hospice nurses who walked beside us throughout Justin’s year-and-a-half journey with glioblastoma. Every doctor, nurse, caregiver, and member of his care team made us feel loved, seen, heard, and genuinely cared for during the most difficult season of our lives. Their compassion, kindness, and dedication gave our family comfort and strength that we will never forget.
In Justin’s memory, we also hope to bring awareness to glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer that remains significantly under-researched despite the devastating impact it has on patients and families. We are hopeful that increased awareness, continued research, and future advancements will one day lead to better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for those who face this disease.
While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love will remain with us always. We will miss his smile, his laughter, his wisdom, and the countless ways he made our lives better. Though he is no longer by our side, he will forever be in our hearts.
A celebration of Justin’s life will be held on August 2, 2026, at Garden Park Clubhouse, 11150 Tydeman Way, South Jordan, UT 84009. Family and friends are invited to join us as we honor and remember a truly remarkable man. Please stop by anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to share a taco, a memory, and celebrate a life so beautifully lived.
