Randall Franz Schoenfeld

Randall (Randy) Franz Schoenfeld was born May 23, 1958, to Baldur Franz Schoenfeld and Helen Kay Mecham and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer at his sister Heidi's home on September 3, 2026

Randy was from a large extended family. His father and grandparents immigrated to Utah from Germany in 1950, he was the first born American in that line.

Randy's parents divorced in 1967 so Randy and is siblings, Heidi, Kim, Sonja and mother lived with his Maternal grandparents for 2 years surrounded by 9 aunts that adored him. When Randy was 12, his mother married Clifford Harold Pedersen who had 4 children, Kevin (deceased) Clifford, Kristin and Karma and they had 1 child from that union, Rachel making 9 children in their home. in 1971 their stepdad adopted them making them Pedersen's. Randy's biological dad had his name changed back to his birth name in 1977 and misspelled his name and added an extra L at the end of his name. That always bothered Randy that he had to spell his name the way his new birth certificate showed. His mother later divorced and married Arthur Whittaker and added 3 more children to the mix. Renee, Lauree and Chris. Randy's biological father had several marriages resulting in other siblings, Tammy, Jason, DJ (deceased) and Amber.

Randy's first job was working with his biological dad at his auto parts store in Salt Lake City. Randy loved cars and motorcycles and working on them. He spent his life under the hood of cars. He would take an old beat-up car and refinish them to their original form. They were beautiful. His true love were his dogs.

Randy moved to California (San Diego) when he was 23. He moved back home to Utah in 2007 and lived with his sister Sonja her husband, children and grandchildren. Randy grew very close to his great nephews who became his whole world.

Randy worked for his sister Kim and her husband at Frequency RC in Layton for 9 years and worked at O'Reilly auto parts in Layton, Utah until his death.

Randy will be remembered for his honesty, loyalty, kindness and generosity and for his great laugh and his big hugs.

Randy loved all of his nieces and nephews.

Randy is proceeded in death by his parents Baldur, Helen, and siblings Kevin and DJ.

Randy asked to be cremated and have his ashes spread in San Diego and did not want a service.
